Decorative Hand-Crafted Lampshades

Thursday, May 3, 2007

I have had my lampshade shop in our rural village of Pawlet for the past 11 years. I just purchased my shop 1 1/2 years ago. Bit by bit I have been working on this sweet old building. It was built around 1790, not much insulation.... but each year I have made a few improvements. My village is in the boonies!!!! We have a general store, 2 galleries, a new French Bistro, Pascal's, a new garden shop, 2 real estate offices. We still have a farm industry here, a few dairy farms, a great goats cheese farm- Consider Bardwell Farm.

This is a very special time of year here in Vermont. At last I can have my shop door open, work a bit, putter in my garden here at my shop. With the door open, everyone stops in to say hi. It's like everything starts to wake up. I am headed off to the Flea Market tomorrow afternoon to look for lamps and vintage fabrics. Hope to find some great stuff. You never know, just never go looking for anything in particular!!!! Monday is the Vintage Textile Show in Sturbridge,Mass. I'll let you know what I find, I didn't make it there last year; it's always fun. It's very expensive and can be exasperating. The prices can really beat you down, but it you look hard enough, you can find what you need at okay prices. or you can find fabrics that you can't find anywhere else. We'll see. Wish me luck.

I am still finding my way through this blog land and lingo, These posting ought to look better sooner or later. I got the idea to do this after reading an article in the paper that said, most everyone that wanted to do a blog had already done one and the growth of blogs had leveled off. wooooooow!!!! I just found out about blogs, so figured I better jump on board. Not easy being middle aged!!!!! I won't tell you how long it took me to figure out how to put photos up. All for now, got to get some work done if I'm headed to the Flea!!!
