Shopped My Way to Maine and Back in Search of Great Stuff

Fun finials! In August I headed to Maine to visit my family, which of course was the perfect opportunity to catch up on my pent-up urge to antique. My friends will often ask me how long it takes to get to Portland from here..... well, first off I like the back roads and then it depends on how long I can dilly dally or of course I am really working! Right??? Shopping for my lampshop can be hard work, unless I hit gold. Old Hawk Eye did pretty good, found great white on white embroideries, lots of lamps with potential, a few dresser scarves, a couple pieces of vintage fabric, a few cool postcards. Acually I did so good on the way over that I had just about spent my wad for the trip home.

I did shop my way home to Vermont, but was in search of cool bits of treasures for making finials. How fun was that!!!! I always love all those vintage iron people and animals. So I found some of those, some vintage push pins, some old costume jewerly that I could rip apart, some little pots of flowers~ all kinds of odds and ends. I must say that came out pretty good. And they were fun to put together. Hope you like them, too.

How about this, I'm on a roll. writing 2 days in a row. The foliage is coming around and tomorrow is my day off!!!! Yay! Maybe I will go looking for more good stuff. xoxo judy

okay,okay, summer's over!!!!

Okay, I know! It's been a very long time since I have added anything new to this blog. First off, I need blog design help or maybe I most certainly should be younger. It's so bad when I read instructions..... and have no clue. Okay, I'm not usually stupid, but all things computers...... there's definitely some air space. For example, I just got PhotoShop Elements.... And can't figure out how to import my pictues......I don't think it is very hard..... anyway, so these are old photos from this summer.

Summer has come and gone. We are waiting for the leaf peekers; shouldn't be long. I promise this blog will soon look better, maybe I'll get some help. But I love the idea of the blog. So easy to put up fresh inventory. My shop has so many one or 2 of a kind items.

My summer........hummmm. well as you saw I lost my best buddy. And 4 days earlier, my husband lost 1/2 of a finger on our woodsplitter. 2 months ago I was here at the shop and got the call. You can imagine the words that flew out of my mouth when he called.......It's been a long haul; he's probably got 1 more month of recovery. I flipped and he was calm.....I must say it has been enjoyable having a house husband; he is a chef and is great at shopping, but only just discovered the vacumm... But it has allowed me to work late and arrive home to supper usually prepared, how lucky.

Update on magazine article in Country Living, Last I heard was it was pushed back to jan or feb 08. which makes sense as there was 2 feet of snow the day of the shoot. That might have looked a bit silly in the fall issue.

This photo is a great rock lamp from the coast of Maine. Nice and sturdy!!! This won't be blowing off your porch. These are the greatest lamps I have found lately. Kind of zen... but not too queer. And best of all it will take all kinds of fun lampshades. The fabric is a linen dot by my friend and neighbor Susan Sargent. Susan's fabrics make great shades; she's got lots of bright, colorful fabrics that are great for decorative shades.

time to get back to the work table, but promise to write more good stuff!!!! xoxo judy
