I have been a lampshade maker/ designer for almost 2 decades. I have a funky little design studio/shop in our rural village of Pawlet, Vermont. I usually look forward to heading 1 1/2 miles down to the village to my little shop. I use wonderful vintage fabrics, old embroideries, vintage chenille, vintage postcards, anything unusual! Everything I look at, I think, "maybe that would make a great shade." Decorative Lampshades can make a design statement, add great atmosphere and warmth to your room. At last lampshades have become an important design element!
Another stunning entry. I love your lampshade work. It's so beautiful and original. I'm still working on one myself but it looks nothing like the kind of work you're doing.
Thanks Lisa,Finding great textiles is half the battle. I look to the fabrics for inspiration. In designing my shades, I always ask myself does it look forced or does it work.... is it over the top or is it "just right". I am forever ripping off trims... and trying to find a"the right thing". If you see my messy desk, there is almost always one shade hanging out, unfinished, waiting for me to find "the right trim!!!!"
